Many people take a pregnancy test and see “one line” or “the second line is very faint.” The common question is… does this mean pregnant or not?
One line
- Means hCG hormone not detected yet
- May be due to testing too early
- Or may not be pregnant at all
The second line is very faint
- Possibility of being pregnant, but hormone levels are still low
- Usually occurs in the early stages of pregnancy (less than 2 weeks)
- May need to retest in 2–3 days to confirm the result
Recommendations
- Test in the morning, first urine after waking up, for the most accurate result
- If still unsure, consult a doctor or get a blood test for confirmation
- Avoid interpreting with just your eyes read the test kit instructions clearly
Do not ignore the results even if they are not clear, as knowing early gives you more options
