Volunteer Network for Safe Abortion
The Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, established the RSA (Referral System for Safe Abortion) network in 2014 with financial support from the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth). This network comprises medical personnel, nurses, social workers, psychologists, public health professionals, and other volunteers from both the public and private sectors. They work together to facilitate medical referrals for safe abortion procedures in accordance with the guidelines of the Royal Thai College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the World Health Organization (WHO). Safe abortion services are provided using medication or vacuum aspiration, following legal indications and the regulations of the Medical Council of Thailand. The RSA volunteer network ensures access to safe medical abortion for women experiencing unplanned pregnancies who face physical or mental health challenges. The network operates based on the following principles:

Roles and Responsibilities
To enhance the efficiency of operations, the Bureau of Reproductive Health, Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, has appointed a committee to establish a referral system for safe abortion. The committee has the following roles and responsibilities:

Current RSA Network Membership
The RSA network currently consists of: 200 volunteer doctors 760 multidisciplinary RSA volunteers, including teachers/professors, pharmacists, nurses, coordinators, project managers, clinic managers, policy analysts, psychologists, social workers, and public health professionals. These members are distributed across different regions throughout the country, operating in both public and private healthcare facilities within the RSA network across Thailand.
