What prevention methods are suitable for teenagers?

Many teenagers want to prevent but don’t know where to start. They don’t want to get pregnant or catch diseases but are too shy to ask anyone. The most suitable method for teenagers is “a safe and accessible method.”

1. Condoms

  • Prevents both pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases
  • Easy to use, available at general stores. If you’re afraid or shy to buy → try using a vending machine

2. Daily contraceptive pills

  • Effective if taken at the same time every day
  • Helps with acne and regular menstruation
  • If you often forget → risk of pregnancy

3. Emergency contraceptive pills (use when the condom breaks, slips, or no protection was used)

  • Take within 72 hours after intercourse. The sooner you take it, the more effective it is
  • Should not be used as a primary method

4. Implant/injectable contraceptives (must be done by a doctor and are highly effective)

  • Implant provides protection for 3–5 years
  • Injectable every 1 or 3 months

If you’re still unsure  try talking to a staff member or counselor  to help choose the method that suits you. You don’t have to decide alone
