The RSA volunteer network visits the southern network

On February 21-22, 2018, the RSA Network, Path2Health Foundation, AIDS Access Foundation, and the Bureau of Reproductive Health conducted a study visit to hospitals with RSA network members in three locations in the southern region: Thung Song Hospital, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province; Kanchanadit Hospital, Surat Thani Province; Lang Suan Hospital, Chumphon Province. This field visit included:

• Dr. Rueangkitti Sirikanjanakul, RSA Network Coordinator, Bureau of Reproductive Health
• Dr. Thanin Waranantakul, RSA Volunteer Network Coordinator, Southern Region
• Representative from Health Center 11
• Mrs. Tussanai Khantayaporn, Advisor to Path2Health Foundation and Love Care Station website
• Senior staff of the 1663 Unplanned Pregnancy Consultation Hotline
• Representative from the Provincial Health Office or person responsible for adolescent work in that province

From the visit, the situation regarding services to assist women with unplanned pregnancies at each location was summarized as follows:

1. Thung Song Hospital, Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincehas an RSA volunteer network doctor, Dr. Thanin Waranantakul, an obstetrician, who continues to operate. A clear public referral system has been established for internal hospital operations, with a multidisciplinary team, good communication systems, and a clear main responsible party, which is the adolescent clinic. The nursing department fully supports, and when communication occurs, the person responsible for adolescent work understands and supports, with plans to bring it to the agenda at the MCH Board meeting in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
2. Kanchanadit Hospital, Surat Thani Provincehas an RSA volunteer network doctor, Dr. Apidet Leeranvarawat, an obstetrician, who has temporarily ceased operations due to internal issues. The team is committed to continuing to assist women with unplanned pregnancies due to their potential, with a clear responsible party, which is the adolescent clinic working proactively with the network.
3. Lang Suan Hospital, Chumphon Provincehas an RSA volunteer network doctor, Dr. Sukhumal Phothong, an obstetrician, who has ceased operations due to issues with service costs and management systems for contraceptive supplies, IUDs, and implant contraceptives.
