The attitudes and concepts of people in society towards the issue of terminating a pregnancy or abortion can be divided into two different perspectives: the Pro-life concept or Anti-abortion concept, and the Pro-choice concept or Abortion right concept.
The Pro-life concept is a perspective that disagrees with abortion and may include supporting the state to enact laws prohibiting abortion. The reasoning is that human life begins at conception, and the embryo in the womb is considered to have a status equivalent to a person, thus having the right to live, which no one should violate. Many supporters of this concept view abortion as contrary to religious beliefs and consider it a grave sin.
The Pro-choice concept believes that women should have rights over their own bodies, health and reproductive rights, and the right to determine their own future. Therefore, women should have the right to decide whether to continue or terminate a pregnancy themselves. Legally, this concept supports legal abortion, especially in the early stages of pregnancy, and views that allowing legal abortion will help reduce the risks women face from illegal and unsafe abortions, which may lead to health problems and can be life-threatening.
