Motherhood is not an instinct.. it is a cultural construct. Each mother can be good or bad because a mother is just an ordinary person. Elevating the role of a mother to be the responsibility of one person is equivalent to placing the burden of child care. And neglecting supportive policies.
The same goes for abortion. Not every woman who has sex needs to be a wife or a mother, and there are many factors that lead to unplanned or problematic pregnancies. Everything should be a choice of whether to be pregnant or not, and there should be state welfare, safe and legal abortion services, without shifting the burden or stigmatizing and punishing.
