Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kritya reveals women still suffer and die from illegal abortions, even though the law allows it, but hospitals refuse to perform them
.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kritya Achavanichkul, coordinator of the Women’s Choice Support Network for Unplanned Pregnancies, said in an online seminar on “#Mothers and the Welfare State
” organized by the Campaign for Democracy Committee (CDC) in collaboration with the Social Democracy Institute, said that state policy planning neglects the care of new members of society. Without a welfare state for the care of new members of society, society places this burden on mothers without considering the diversity that not all women are ready to be mothers. When it comes to abortion, this is a human rights issue. Women should be able to choose whether they want to be pregnant or not.
