From having rights to losing rights: Why is it necessary to gather opinions?

Did you know!! Approximately 19 million Thai people of all ages, who are not under the universal healthcare scheme, have lost their rights to receive health promotion and disease prevention services because the legal advisor to the Minister of Public Health has argued that the NHSO should not have the authority to manage rights other than those under the universal healthcare scheme. As a result, these services in the fiscal year 2023 cover only Thai people with universal healthcare rights. The issuance of the Royal Decree will restore health promotion and disease prevention rights to those with health rights outside the universal healthcare scheme as follows: 1) Health promotion and disease prevention services 2) HIV infection prevention 3) Public health services for dependent individuals in the community and 4) Public health services in collaboration with local administrative organizations, which have protected Thai people for over 20 years.

It is hoped that the health promotion and disease prevention budget for those outside the universal healthcare scheme, which has been allocated by the Budget Bureau in the amount of 9,291.1 million baht, will be returned to health services for those who have lost their rights.
