The Royal Gazette website published the Ministerial Regulation specifying the types of educational institutions and the operations of educational institutions in preventing and solving the problem of teenage pregnancy, No. 2, B.E. 2566, announced on February 17, 2023.
By virtue of the power under Section 4, paragraph one, and Section 6, paragraph two of the Prevention and Solution of the Teenage Pregnancy Problem Act, B.E. 2559, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, and the Minister of Education issued the following Ministerial Regulation:
To repeal the provision in paragraph one of Article 7 of the Ministerial Regulation specifying the types of educational institutions and the operations of educational institutions in preventing and solving the problem of teenage pregnancy, B.E. 2561.
And to use the following provision instead:
“Article 7: Educational institutions under Article 2 that have students who are pregnant must not expel those students from the institution, except in the case of transferring to another institution at the request of the student.” Given on February 3, B.E. 2566.
Note: The reason for issuing this Ministerial Regulation is that currently, it is found that students who are pregnant are being transferred from educational institutions without their consent. It is appropriate to amend the operational guidelines of educational institutions to protect pregnant teenagers who are students, ensuring they have the right to receive education in a suitable and continuous manner according to their wishes. Therefore, it is necessary to issue this Ministerial Regulation.
