September 28 of every year is designated as International Safe Abortion Day. In 2023, Thailand is campaigning with the main theme: “The Path to Safe, Legal, and Stigma-Free Abortion.”

The RSA volunteer network offers to receive and refer for safe abortion, allowing those facing unplanned pregnancies who choose not to continue to access safe abortion services in accordance with the law and medical council regulations.

Although the law does not mandate all doctors to provide abortion services, to ensure that all women receive safe services, the RSA volunteer network requests doctors who are not ready/unwilling to provide abortion services to adhere to the following 4 points:
1. Provide consultation and refer to abortion services without delay.
2. Provide ultrasound services to refer to medical facilities that accept the corresponding gestational age.
3. Safely treat those with complications from abortion without pushing them to seek services elsewhere.
4. Maintain a non-discriminatory attitude, respect the decisions of women, and the medical personnel providing abortion services.
The RSA volunteer network believes that even if we have different views, we can collaborate professionally to ensure safety and avoid the risk of loss of life.
