Many people take a pregnancy test and see “one line” or “a very faint second line.” The common question is… does this mean pregnant or not?

One line

  • Means hCG hormone not detected yet
  • Could be due to testing too early
  • Or might not be pregnant at all

Very faint second line

  • Possibility of being pregnant, but hormone levels are still low
  • Usually occurs in the early stages of pregnancy (less than 2 weeks)
  • May need to retest in 2–3 days to confirm the result

Recommendations

  • Test in the morning, first urine after waking up, for the most accurate result
  • If still unsure, consult a doctor or get a blood test for confirmation
  • Avoid interpreting with just your eyes read the test kit instructions clearly

Do not ignore the results even if they are not clear, as knowing early gives you more options
