Is it possible to terminate a pregnancy in Thailand?
Yes, it is possible without breaking the law under the Criminal Code Sections 301-305, which allows termination of pregnancy at any gestational age, but it should not exceed 24 weeks if it falls under the following cases:
- Gestational age not exceeding 12 weeks The pregnant individual can terminate the pregnancy without specifying a reason.
- Gestational age 12-20 weeks requires consultation with a doctor and a multidisciplinary team to ensure that the pregnant individual receives complete information and makes a voluntary decision.
- Termination is possible at any gestational age if the pregnancy affects the physical and mental health of the pregnant individual, the fetus has severe abnormalities, the pregnant individual is under 15 years old, and the pregnancy resulted from sexual assault, without needing a police report.
