In Thai society, there is still a misconception that “to use birth control, you must get permission from parents or sexual partners.” But the truth is… Every woman, of any age, has the right to access birth control services without needing anyone’s permission
This right is under the law and human rights principles
- Our body = Our right
- Whether you are a teenager, single, or married
- You can access birth control services from healthcare facilities without notifying or asking anyone for permission
What can you request?
- Monthly birth control pills
- Contraceptive injections
- Implant contraceptives / IUDs
- Condoms
- Consultation to choose the method that suits you
Those under 20 years old can access services with healthcare facilities providing safe and non-judgmental consultation because… the Prevention and Solution of the Adolescent Pregnancy Act, B.E. 2559 states that adolescents have the right to make their own decisions, receive information, knowledge, reproductive health services that maintain confidentiality and privacy, as well as social welfare, equally and without discrimination.
Where can you access services?
- Healthcare facilities within the National Health Security System
- If unsure or uncomfortable revealing your identity → Consult online with the RSA team
Summary
Birth control is not something others decide for you. You have full rights to manage your own sexual health — without needing permission from parents or partners.
