From the news case that occurred on February 10, 2025 – A Myanmar woman had an argument with her boyfriend and became so stressed that she decided to take pills to induce an abortion, even though she was about 5 months pregnant. She asked a friend to bury the baby, but villagers saw and reported to the police, while she herself lost a lot of blood and had to be sent to the hospital.

This is not just a sad news — but it reflects that
- There are still many people who do not know that “safe abortion” is possible.
- There are still people who cannot access medical services, not because they do not want to, but because they “do not know who to ask for help.”
- There are still people who think they must keep this matter as quiet as possible because they fear being arrested, stigmatized, or seen as “wrong.”
And what we still need to discuss
- How are blood-inducing pills different from abortion pills, when to use them, and how safe are they?
- Is it really possible to terminate a pregnancy under Thai law, and where to go?
- Who are the most vulnerable when facing an unplanned pregnancy, and how can we help them?
- How can we ensure that women no longer have to “handle the problem alone”?
This news is not far from us
but it is something we must dare to speak about, dare to listen to, and dare to improve together.
