After terminating a pregnancy, menstruation usually returns within 4–6 weeks. Some may come slightly later or earlier, depending on hormone levels and the body’s recovery.
What will the first period be like?
- It may be heavier or lighter than usual.
- The blood may appear darker or have small clots.
- There may be more abdominal pain than in previous cycles.
- Subsequent cycles will gradually return to normal.
If more than 8 weeks have passed without menstruation or there is abnormal bleeding, you should see a doctor for follow-up.
