Did you know? Every Thai citizen can use the right to “free contraception” regardless of whether you hold a 30-baht gold card, social security, government official, or other rights. You can receive contraception services at no cost at healthcare facilities in the NHSO system nationwide.
Methods of contraception available for free
- Monthly contraceptive pills: Receive up to 13 packs per year through the “Pao Tang” app or by showing your ID card at the service unit.
- Emergency contraceptive pills: Receive 2 packs per year through the “Pao Tang” app.
- Contraceptive injections: Use the right up to 5 times per year.
- Contraceptive implants: Use the right once every 3 years (in some cases, it must be considered by a doctor).
- Intrauterine device (IUD): Receive free insertion service once per year.
- Condoms: Receive 10 pieces per week through the “Pao Tang” app or pick them up from the “Love Safe Cabinet” at participating service points.
- Sterilization for both men and women (both wet and dry sterilization) for those who do not wish to conceive again.
Use the right through the “Pao Tang” app easily
- Open the “Pao Tang” app
- Go to the “Health Wallet” menu
- Select “Good Health Disease Prevention Rights”
- Select the desired service, such as contraceptive pills, condoms, implants, etc.
- Find a service unit near you → Book the right → Go to receive the service
If you don’t have a smartphone, you can still use the right by simply presenting your ID card at participating service units
