We believe that women have the freedom and the right to choose whether to continue a pregnancy or to terminate it. Every woman should have the right to decide about her future regarding her pregnancy according to her own conscience or moral judgment. Whatever the reasons she may have or the circumstances at the time, societal judgment should not force women to continue their pregnancies.
We recognize that supporting self-choice is not sufficient for accessing abortion services as an integration of reproductive health services. We believe that women should have this right. Women need and want access to resources and services, with counseling from doctors, nurses, or with friends and family they choose to involve. Legal, political, and socio-economic changes must facilitate the work to provide reproductive health choices, and agreements on these changes must be part of the agreement to provide choices.
We express solidarity with abortion service providers and acknowledge the moral value of their work in this matter. We recognize and respect that some personnel may choose not to provide abortion services, but we believe it is the ethical duty of those doctors to ensure that women are referred to other providers willing to offer abortion services.
We believe there are profound ethical cases regarding the freedom of reproductive choice. We have agreed to explain why abortion is necessary and why women are capable of making decisions and taking responsibility for their actions, as women are the only ones who can create or make decisions for themselves (Reproductive Autonomy).
