The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) emphasizes “Teen Pregnancy Must Continue Education”. The principle of the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) is that when a student becomes pregnant, they must continue their education by consulting with the family and managing the situation quietly and appropriately. After giving birth, they should return to school, be supported to care for the child well, and not abandon the child. This helps the child overcome the crisis and gain the most benefit.

If the local education office cannot manage, they should coordinate with the district level. The school may assist the child and family in coordinating with the provincial social development office in cases where they cannot care for the child themselves to seek necessary assistance in various areas.

In addition to providing assistance, all parties work together to develop curricula and activities on sexual education to promote prevention, in collaboration with the Non-Formal and Informal Education (NFE) to cover teenagers not in the formal education system. Additionally, they have collaborated with Path2Health to create media, develop teachers, families, and guardians, focusing on gender roles, mindfulness, positive reinforcement, physical and mental development, as well as life skills.

However, regarding the option to terminate a pregnancy, the law allows it in cases of physical or mental health issues, for children under 15 years old, and pregnancies resulting from rape. This matter is sensitive and should be thoroughly consulted. For unplanned pregnancy issues, you can consult the hotline 1663.
