There is a question that occasionally comes to mind and is asked: Is there a child who has been given to the foundation by their mother, but we cannot find an adoptive family for them? Are they stuck due to document issues, lack of consent (eventually), severe health problems, or any other issues that prevent them from going anywhere and remain until they grow up, and we start to be sure that we need to prepare the child to grow up in Thailand self-sufficiently?
Yes, there are certainly such cases. But before that time comes, we must work intensively with this group of older children to strengthen them so they can be self-reliant…

People grow every day, learn more every day, and become stronger every day. But that doesn’t mean worries will easily disappear. These children grow up in foster families, with parents, siblings, and relatives providing care, love, and warmth. But at some point, it is possible that as they grow older, they may lose the opportunity to have a permanent adoptive family.
The work of the Sahathai Foundation is to prepare these children to step into adulthood as strongly as possible. Strongest here does not only mean physically but also mentally, in terms of identity, and everything a person should have to live in this world securely.
Imagine a child about to step into adulthood but risks becoming a lost and confused adult if not strong. What kind of citizen will this adult be in society…
At the end of April, there will be a small camp for 7 children who are about to enter adolescence and need to prepare for this. The older siblings will take the younger ones to do activities at a beach near Bangkok. The goal is for the younger ones to reflect on their lives, set goals, and try to plan how to reach those goals on their own, with guidance from social workers. This task is not expected to be easy, so the older siblings want the younger ones to be in a relaxed atmosphere, ready to open up, learn, accept conditions, and prepare for what will happen in the future.
