On December 23 – 24, 2019, the Bureau of Reproductive Health, Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health held the annual general meeting of the RSA (Referral system for Safe Abortion) volunteer network for the year 2020 at the Ambassador Hotel, Sukhumvit, Bangkok.
To share experiences and build a network that facilitates care and support for adolescents and women with unplanned pregnancies, including options counseling, continuing pregnancy, and accessible safe abortion referral services. This aims to strengthen the service network and work comprehensively together, as well as plan the operation to drive the RSA volunteer network in 2020, and clarify academic progress and reproductive health rights and benefits involved.
Participants included RSA volunteer network members and regional coordinators, members of the women’s unplanned pregnancy support network, the 1663 unplanned pregnancy options counseling hotline, the National Health Security Office, Health Centers 1-12, and the Urban Health Development Institute, Department of Health, networks/agencies providing counseling and support services for women with unplanned pregnancies, event organizers, speakers, and the RSA website team (rsathai.org). The meeting was funded by the Health Promotion Fund (HPF) under the project to develop a safe and friendly options service network for adolescents and women with unplanned pregnancies.
We were honored to have Dr. Peerayut Sanukul, Director of Health Center 2, Phitsanulok, acting as the Director of the Bureau of Reproductive Health, to open the meeting and lecture on supporting the drive for safe abortion operations of the RSA volunteer network.
Additionally, three new members joined the RSA network, bringing the current total to 653 members, consisting of 142 doctors and 511 multidisciplinary professionals. Those interested in joining the network can find more information and download documents at:
