The process of counseling pregnant women who are not ready to help restore inner power and solve problems requires energy, skills, and in some cases, may take a long time. Working together between the counselor and the client by opening up to feelings and carrying their burdens sometimes results in the counselor feeling heavy, and if not released, they carry the client’s burdens even after the counseling session has ended.

Therefore, self-care for counselors to avoid being overwhelmed by the client’s burdens or making their problems our own is something that needs to be practiced and prevented from happening.

Self-care for counselors to prevent burnout and stress can be done in many ways, such as taking care of oneself through various activities like practicing yoga, which is considered a form of meditation, developing the mind to be liberated by finding methods suitable for oneself. Therefore, meditation is not just about going to a temple, sitting in meditation, or walking meditation, but various activities in our daily lives can be used as meditation, such as embroidery, cooking, planting trees, etc. Just make sure that every time you engage in an activity, bring your mindfulness back to every movement by returning to observe your own breath.
