Be aware, be protected, no pregnancy, no childbirth, stay safeHaving unprotected sex… can lead to pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases RSA Volunteer Network shares care in 3 steps. Let’s see what they are ^^
1. True love requires care, safe love requires protection
When having sex, ensure safe contraception by focusing on dual protection, which is the prevention of unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. This is the best method because someone might not use it consistently, increasing the risk. Men should use condoms, and women should use effective contraception methods that suit their needs, such as IUDs, contraceptive implants, monthly contraceptive pills, or contraceptive injections. This will effectively prevent both unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections.
2. Unprotected sex or failed protection
If you have unprotected sex or the protection fails, use emergency contraception as soon as possible after intercourse, starting within 24 hours or no later than 72 hours (it can be taken within 120 hours, but the effectiveness decreases), ortake a pregnancy test (starting 14 days after intercourse), orinsert a copper IUD within 5 days after unprotected sex to prevent this pregnancy and continue protection for 5 – 10 years.
3. Unplanned pregnancy, there are still options
Options for unplanned pregnancy, continue the pregnancy or safely terminate it, can be accessed throughconsultation services at a youth clinic/support center or call 1663, the unplanned pregnancy hotline, available from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM every day.
